Our priority is to have all students receive the maximum benefit of instruction on a daily basis. When students are absent or tardy they miss important instructional information. You can help us by ensuring that your student arrives to school on time each day.
When your student is absent or tardy, please notify the school at 575-7331. You may leave a voicemail message 24 hours a day; messages are checked each morning. In your message please leave:
- Your child’s name
- Teacher’s name
- Reason for the absence
- If your child will be arriving late, please indicate if they need to order a hot lunch.
Attendance is closely monitored. The District is required to file a petition with juvenile Court for students with 7 unexcused absences in one month or 10 in one year. Parents are notified about each unexcused absence. A letter may be sent home.
If absences or tardiness continue, a letter of concern from the principal will be sent home, and a copy forwarded to the District Attendance Officer.
After two absences (excused or unexcused) the principal will have a conference with the parent(s).
If your child has a chronic illness that makes frequent absences necessary, please provide a letter from your doctor stating the medical conditions.
Please expect a phone all from the school confirming your student’s absence.
Any student who needs to leave the school building during the day must be signed out in the notebook on the front counter in the office. Only persons listed on the student’s emergency card will be allowed to check out or pick up students. When students are returned to school they must check in at the office to get a re-entry slip. These guidelines are in place for our students’ safety.
A pre-planned absence form must be completed in advance of an expected absence and will support effective communication between the school and home regarding student attendance. The completed form must be turned into the school office three days prior to the absence.
